Select one of the ten available fighters and two unlockable boss characters, each based on a classic monster (vampire, werewolf, golem, zombie, succubus, mummy, catwoman, oni, merman, sasquatch, robot, alien.) and fight it out in various horror-themed locations. A direct conversion of the year-old arcade game, Dark-stalkers captures your imagination and tests your skills at once. You slug it out in two-of-three standard bouts with famous monsters like a vampire, werewolf, mummy, and zombie. Each character has special moves that emulate the Street Fighter theme of fireballs and dragon punches. Unique to the Darkstalkers series is the Dark Force. There are two Dark Forces in the game: Dark Force Change and Dark Force Power. Dark Force Change is a universal motion that allows characters to turn the background into a different dimension that will give the user a clear advantage. Darkstalkers III has more features than the arcade version, including Training and Collection modes (the latter is a gallery of Darkstalkers artwork), and adds three fighters to the lineup. But these extras might be for naught if the gameplay speed isn't fixed. Let's hope the final version isn't so frightfully slow.
